A clear representation of shadow can be seen above.
Shadow is meant as the darkened shape on a surface that falls behind somebody or something blocking the light. It is formed when a direct sunlight was obstructed by a thing.
Figure 1.2
The guy on the picture above is Shikamaru. He is a character in Naruto which fights his enemy through his binding technique. He uses this strategy to win the game faster at the same time, less force was used. This is by controlling the person’s body movement – when it coincides with his shadow.
Shikamaru’s scheme of brawling through his shadow can be compared to a government official controlled by an unknown authority – respond and act on whatever he is commanded to do, that he or she manages every decision and move that the official wanted him to do. Relatively right, but it always come to the extent that even the wrong deeds of those officials were obeyed.
Another example which can be considered is the situation of our country now under the control of the United States of America. It is sad to say but I think that our country’s aim is to be the exact replica of the United States –on how this country treats its fellowmen, how its economy work, etc. Our country is under the shadow of the US because whatever our nation does is based on how the US will react on its effect. If he would respond on it positively, surely; one way or another will have a negative effect to our nation.
A politician in a local government that is controlled by a higher official can also be an example of the shadow that I am describing – whether he or she is corrupt or not.
As of now, our country has multiple unfinished projects. Our government officials wanted to change our country as a whole in terms of economic development and political stabilization; however financial appropriation usually causes trouble and the result is disappointing. They cannot move unless they are told to do so.
If the Filipino citizens will avoid the state of being under the shadow of someone, indeed our country will be improved and all of us will be productive in all aspects and funds for education will be delivered appropriately; as well as for food, shelter and other necessities. These will help us improve our nation to be a better country and could be one the best.
However, the transformation of the nation is not through the authority, it is through us – the individuals that live in this nation.
And we should not live in the shadow of the past or any being but on how we could change our lives through the realization of our dreams and by setting a good example.
